Frederick Keys News Release

ZEBULON, NC -- Carolina's leadoff batter registered an extra-base hit in each of the game's first four innings and the Keys could not recover as their four-game series at Carolina ended in a split after a 4-2 loss Wednesday afternoon. The Keys now head to Winston-Salem for the second leg of their week long road trip.

Keys starter Tim Berry worked well out of trouble never allowing a multi-run inning even after getting in trouble in each of the first four innings. He allowed three doubles and a triple to leadoff batters in the first four innings. Three of those runners would come around to score in the game.

The Keys offensively had ample opportunities but once again struggled mightily with runners in scoring position. Frederick was 1-for-13 on the afternoon with runners in scoring position. The lone hit came in the 9th inning.

Frederick trailed the game 4-1 entering the ninth inning but nearly rallied. 3B Travis Adair walked to leadoff the inning and stole second base. With two down LF Johnny Ruettiger worked a walk in a ten-plus pitch at bat getting the tying runner Trent Mummey to the plate. Mummey singled, scoring Adair and moving Ruettiger to third base.

Carolina was forced to pull their closer Jose Flores for RHP Grant Sides. On Sides second pitch he enticed a ground out off the bat of 2B Ty Kelly to end the game.

Back for his sixth start of the season is RHP Dylan Bundy Thursday, June 28th at 7:00 p.m. in Winston-Salem as the Keys open a series with the Dash. Coverage begins 20 minutes prior with The Keys On-Deck Show on 1450-AM The Source.

Frederick returns home Sunday, July 1st for Zoo Night featuring animals from the Catoctin Zoo. There will be a camel, parrots, baby alligators and a dove release amongst other things. For tickets for the 4:00 p.m. first pitch, contact the Keys at 301-815-9939 or purchase online at frederickkeys.com.
