Leadoff Batters Doom Raptors

The Grand Junction Rockies had the leadoff batter score in each of the first seven innings as they defeated the Ogden Raptors 13-2 Thursday night at Suplizio Field.
In the first inning, Wes Rogers walked and scored on an RBI single by Yonathan Daza. Henry Garcia added a run-scoring double, and Terry McClure and Max George each hit RBI singles to give the Rockies a 4-0 lead after the first.
In the second, Rogers singled to shortstop and moved to second on an error by Mike Ahmed. Rogers scored two batters later on another Daza RBI single, making it 5-0.
In the third, Dom Nunez walked along with Kevin Padlo and Max George to load the bases with one out. Two batters later, Rogers struck again with a two-run single, putting the Rockies up 7-0.
In the fourth, Daza walked and scored on an error. Nunez singled to right and the throw from right field was cut off by second baseman Jimmy Allen. Nunez was caught in a rundown and tagged out by Justin Chigbogu. Daza scored during the rundown when Chigbogu's throw to the plate was wide, allowing him to score and make the game 8-0.
In the fifth, George singled and scored on a Daza RBI single four batters later, giving the Rockies a 9-0 advantage.
In the sixth, Nunez walked and scored on a two-run single by Wesley Jones with McClure. George also scored in the frame on another RBI single from Daza to put Grand Junction ahead 12-0.
In the seventh, Garcia singled and scored on a double from Padlo for the final Grand Junction run.
Harrison Musgrave earned his first win with five shutout innings. The lefty allowed just four hits and struck out five.
The Raptors and Rockies will finish their two-game series Friday. J.D. Underwood takes the mound for Ogden against Carlos Polanco. Game starts at 6:35 and can be heard on 97.5 The Zone.
