
Lavelle and Rapinoe Called up to United States National Team for October Matches

TACOMA, WA - OL Reign midfielder Rose Lavelle and forward Megan Rapinoe have been called up to the United States Women's National Team for the October FIFA international match window, where the team will play two friendly matches. These are these are the final domestic games of 2021 for the U.S. WNT and will also be the final U.S. National Team games for Carli Lloyd.
The No. 1 ranked U.S. WNT will take on No. 18 ranked Korea Republic on Thursday, October 21 at Children's Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas at 5:00 p.m. PT on ESPN2 and TUDN. The team will take on Korea Republic again on Tuesday, October 26 at Allianz Field in Saint Paul, Minnesota at 5:00 p.m. PT on TUDN.
Lavelle last played with the U.S. WNT during the September FIFA window, where she played in two matches against Paraguay and scored the opening goal at TQL Stadium in her hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. She also played in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo this summer, where the team earned a bronze medal. The midfielder has 64 caps and has scored 16 goals and tallied 12 assists for the United States.
Rapinoe returns to the roster after missing the September games due to injury. She most recently played at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo this summer where she played in six matches for a total of 306 minutes. She scored one goal and converted her penalty kick in the quarterfinal match. Rapinoe has a total of 185 caps for the United States and has scored 61 goals and notched 70 assists.
The United States and Korea Republic last met in a pair of friendly matches in October 2019. In the first match, the U.S. won 2-0 on goals from Allie Long and Mallory Pugh. In the second match, the two sides battled to a 1-1 draw. The USA has faced Korea Republic 13 times and has a record of 10-0-3 all-time in the series.
