GENEVA, ILLINOIS - Steel netminder Simon Latkoczy turned away all 16 shots he faced as the Chicago Steel (32-11-3-2; 69 points) whitewashed the Youngstown Phantoms (9-26-4-2; 24 pts.) 4-0 Friday night at Fox Valley Ice Arena.

The Steel offense enjoyed contributions from seven different skaters on the scoresheet with Matt Coronato tallying a marker and a helper to lead the way. Forwards Josh Doan, Erik Middendorf and Jack Harvey each netted goals in the win.

Offensive chances were seldom seen in the opening frame as each team registered just five shots on net in the first.

The majority of those chances for Youngstown came early as the Phantoms earned the game's first power play just 31 seconds after the puck dropped.

Latkoczy turned away multiple chances for Youngstown with the man advantage to keep the scoreboard spotless for his club.

The USHL leader in goals, Coronato, teed off one a one-timer set up by two fellow Harvard University commits to put the Steel on top late in the first. Sean Farrell and Ian Moore connected as Coronato launched a shot while dropping down to one knee in the left circle. The power-play tally gave the Huntington, N.Y., native his 42nd marker of the season.

With the assist, Farrell tied Jake Randolph (Omaha: 60A 2013-2014) for most assists in a single season in USHL Tier 1 history.

After gaining the lead, Chicago never looked back while holding Youngstown to single-digit shot attempts in every period.

Josh Doan put a goal onto his highlight reel with a skillful wrist shot halfway through the middle frame. After an errant pass from Youngstown in the neutral zone, the Arizona State University commit used a Phantoms defender as a natural screen, releasing a wrister that popped the left side of the net.

The 2-0 edge improved to 3-0 with a fortunate deflection for the home team.

Near the end of the second period, Steel captain Erik Middendorf extended the Chicago cushion with the second goal on the man advantage for the Steel. Ryan Ufko slid a pass to Coronato in the left circle and Coronato found Middendorf on the doorstep. The puck deflected off Middendorf's right skate for his 29th of the season.

Jack Harvey lit the lamp for the Steel to balloon the lead to 4-0 halfway through the final frame.

The Boston University commit added his ninth goal in his last 14 games with a breakaway tuck.

Harvey, the left-handed shot forward, breezed in with the puck on his forehand, sliding the puck past Phantoms netminder Kyle Chauvette.

With their largest lead of the game, the Chicago defense stepped up with their most impressive period. The Steel held Youngstown to just four shots on net in the third.

The Steel power play scored on both opportunities it had, charting a 2-for-2 (100%) performance in the win. Chicago's penalty kill unit was 1-for-1 (100%) on the night.
