
Late Rally Leads Patriots to 3-0 Win

Bridgewater, NJ - The Somerset Patriots topped the Road Warriors 3-0 at TD Bank Ballpark on Thursday night.
The Patriots broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the eighth inning. Norris Hopper drew a walk, moved to second on a single by Fernando Cortez, and scored on an error on a base hit by Jeff Nettles. Cortez came home to score on an RBI groundout by Josh Pressley, and an error plated Nettles for the 3-0 lead.
Somerset reliever Jeff Kennard (4-3) picked up the win with a perfect inning of work. Patriots starter Derell McCall pitched seven scoreless innings and allowed just three hits in a no decision. Ryan Houston earned his sixth save of the season with a scoreless ninth.
Saul Rivera (2-4) suffered the loss, allowing three runs in two innings pitched.
The 2011 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Friday, September 2nd when the Patriots take on the Road Warriors at 7:05 pm.
