(Bridgeport, Conn., June 4, 2013) - The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Bridgeport Bluefish 4-2 on Tuesday night in the first game of a three-game series at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.

Bridgeport struck first in the bottom of the first inning on a RBI single to right by Prentice Redman off Ducks starter Nick DeBarr. Daniel Mayora's RBI single to left in the third stretched the lead to two. Long Island cut the deficit to one in the fifth on Josh Barfield's two-out RBI single to left off Bluefish starter Josh Butler.

In the bottom of the frame though, a throwing error and a RBI single by Luis Lopez ballooned the lead to three. The Ducks rallied for a run in the ninth on another RBI single by Barfield, but they stranded the tying runs on base.

Butler (3-2) earned the win, tossing seven innings, allowing just one run on seven hits. DeBarr (0-5) took the loss, surrendering four runs on eight hits and two walks in five and two-thirds innings. Jeff Fulchino earned his sixth save despite allowing a run on three hits in the ninth.

Barfield's four hits led the Ducks offensively. Adam Bailey extended his on-base streak to 22 games and his hitting streak to 15, the longest by a Duck this year.

The Ducks and Bluefish continue their three-game set on Wednesday morning. Game time is slated for 10:35 a.m. from The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
