Bridgeport Bluefish News Release

(Bridgeport, Conn. - June 4, 2013) - The Bridgeport Bluefish defeated the Long Island Ducks 4-2 in Tuesday evening's game at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.

The 'Fish snapped a seven game home losing streak with the victory against the Ducks. Josh Butler (3-2) escaped a first inning jam with a double play from short stop Iggy Suarez. In the bottom of the first Prentice Redman (1-for-4) knocked home Austin Krum (3-for-3, 2 R) with two-outs giving the 'Fish a 1-0 lead.

They added to that lead in the third inning with Suarez leading off the inning with a double. Danny Mayora (1-for-4) followed that with an RBI single, doubling the lead 2-0.

After Long Island got one back in the top of the fifth inning; Bridgeport responded with three hits and two more runs in the bottom half.

That was all Butler needed as he pitched seven innings giving up just one run on seven hits. Nick DeBarr (0-5) took the loss for Long Island. DeBarr went five and two-third innings giving up four runs on eight hits.

Jeff Fulchino came into the ninth inning looking for his sixth save of the season. He made it interesting by giving up three hits and allowing a run to score. The Ducks left two runners in scoring position as Fulchino got Bryant Nelson to ground out, ending the game.

The two teams will face each other at 10:35 a.m. on Wednesday. Tickets are available at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard Ticket Office, by calling (203) 210-BLUE or visiting www.bridgeportbluefish.com.
