Durham Bulls News Release

DURHAM, NC-The Bulls faced a six-run deficit before they finally got on the scoreboard Tuesday at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, and a rally in the late innings proved too little, too late as the Tides held on for a 7-5 victory.

Mike Prochaska (2-4, 6.86) held the Tides at bay through four innings, but he allowed two in the fifth inning and two in the sixth to take the loss. Chris Mason followed and allowed three more runs in two innings out of the bullpen.

Durham got on the board with Elliot Johnson's solo home run in the seventh inning and then pushed across four in the eighth off Roberto Novoa. In the bottom of the ninth the Bulls had the winning run at the plate with no outs, but the bottom of their order could not produce the big hit. Norfolk's Craig Anderson (2-7, 7.88) got the win in seven innings of work, allowing three hits and a run while striking out eight Bulls.

The Bulls look to avoid the four-game sweep Wednesday at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park when they take on Norfolk once again. Durham's Jeremy Cummings (7-2, 2.59) will oppose Randy Keisler (0-1, 4.50). First pitch will be at 7:05 p.m.
