INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis collected 22 hits in a doubleheader split with Columbus Wednesday afternoon at Victory Field. The Clippers managed a run in the ninth to win the suspended game, 3-2, but the Indians stormed back to take game two, 9-4.

Indianapolis moves to 44-50 overall and 23-24 at home, while Columbus is now 52-40 on the season and 29-22 on the road. The Clippers have now won 11 of the first 15 meetings in this year's head-to-head series.

Tribe LF Nyjer Morgan extended his hitting streak to a season-best 12 games by going 3-for-4 with two runs in the opener and 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI in the nightcap. Morgan is now hitting 18-for-54 (.333) with 12 runs and six RBI during the stretch.

Indianapolis tied a season high with 15 hits in game two, and did it in just six at-bats. Every starter reached base at least once and eight different individuals recorded at least one base knock.

2B Luis Ordaz (3-for-4, 1 RBI) posted the Tribe's only three-hit performance, while Morgan, 1B Steve Pearce (2-for-3, 2 R, 1 RBI), C Michel Hernandez (2-for-3, 2 R), RF Adam Boeve (2-for-4, 1 R, 2 RBI) and 3B Matt Kata (2-for-4, 1 R) registered two base knocks apiece.

Indianapolis scored in each of the first five innings in game two. SS Brian Bixler snapped a tie game and gave the Tribe a lead it would not relinquish with a two-run single to left center single in the fourth.

The Indians added three insurance runs in the fifth when PH Craig Wilson lined an RBI single to right and Boeve nailed a two-run single to left.

Columbus hung on in game one after plating a go-ahead run in the ninth. 1B Larry Broadway drew a one-out walk, moved to second on C Luke Montz's single to left center and scored on 2B Ofilio Castro's base knock to the same spot.

Broadway (2-for-3, 2 R) turned in the Clippers' only multi-hit performance in the opener.

Castro (3-for-3, 1 R, 2 RBI) tallied Columbus' only multi-hit effort in the nightcap. He doubled and scored in a four-run fourth, but the Indians pulled ahead in their next at-bat.

Clippers RHP Jim Ed Warden (2.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO) improved to 1-2 with the win in game one, while Indians RHP Chris Hernandez (1.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO) dropped his first decision of the campaign.

Indianapolis LHP Juan Perez (1.2 IP, 1 H, 2 SO) won his second game in as many decisions in game two, while Columbus LHP Tim Bittner (1.1 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 2 SO) lost his first decision of the season.

Clippers RHP Chris Schroder (1.0 IP, 1 SO) recorded the only save for either club by tossing a 1-2-3 ninth in the first contest.

Game one was completed after heavy rain swept through central Indiana during the fourth inning of Tuesday night's affair. The contest was delayed for one hour and three minutes before the umpires suspended play.

Indianapolis continues its eight-game homestand on Thursday when Toledo comes to Victory Field for a 7 p.m. tilt. RHP Anastacio Martinez is scheduled to start for the Mud Hens, while RHP Jason Davis is expected to get the nod for the Indians.

The contest will be carried by WXLW-950 AM and www.IndyIndians.com with Howard Kellman and Scott McCauley. The pre-game show begins at 6:40 p.m.
