Charlotte Knights News Release
FORT MILL, S.C. - July 9, 2008 - After a 2 hour and 47 minute rain delay, the Knights appeared to be more interested in playing baseball than the visiting Rochester Red Wings. The Knights won both games of a doubleheader and swept Rochester with 4-1 and 4-0 wins.
The Knights got some great pitching from starting pitchers Clayton Richard and Jack Egbert. Richard became the first pitcher in Knights history to win his first six starts. Making his final start before appearing in the MLB Futures Game, Richard went 6.0 innings allowing 1 run off of 4 hits. Richard is 6-0 on the year.
Egbert pitched a complete game shutout and allowed just two hits on the night. Egbert also struck out seven Red Wings batters. Egbert improves to 3-6 on the year.
Outfielder Jason Bourgeois extended his hitting streak to 13 games going a combined 2-7 on the night. With the two wins the Knights have now won five straight and sit five games behind first place Durham in the IL South Division.
The Charlotte Knights are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. For ticket or event information, please contact the Knights front office at (704) 357-8071 or (803) 548-8050 or visit our website at www.charlotteknights.com for more information.
