
Late Lancaster Rally Dooms Ducks

Lancaster, Pa.,- The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Lancaster Barnstormers 2-1 on Wednesday night in game four of a five-game series at Clipper Magazine Stadium.
Long Island broke a scoreless tie in the top of the sixth inning when Mike Blanke's RBI double to right field drove in Mike Dowd from first base. Lancaster's Caleb Gindl launched a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game, and K.C. Hobson's RBI single produced the go-ahead run for the Barnstormers.
Justin Jackson (3-1) won the pitchers' duel, allowing one run on three hits with three strikeouts and one walk in seven innings. Nick Struck (2-4) suffered the tough-luck loss, yielding two runs on six hits with three strikeouts and four walks over six and two-thirds innings. Cory Burns recorded his 24th save with a scoreless ninth.
Five different starters recorded hits for Long Island.
The Ducks and Lancaster Barnstormers wrap up their series on Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Clipper Magazine Stadium. Long Island returns home on Monday, September 5 to open a four-game set with the Bridgeport Bluefish. Game time is slated for 1:35 p.m. in a special Labor Day matinee, with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 12:35 (12:20 for full season ticket holders).
