
Late Inning Homer Sinks Airhogs

Grand Prairie, TX. After the AirHogs were shutout in the final five innings of the game, a ninth inning two run homer sealed 6-4 win for the Captains.
Matt Petty picked up his third win of the season pitching a scoreless inning and two thirds, allowing only two hits. The loss was tagged on Alexis Morales in his first appearance as an AirHog, pitching two innings allowing three hits, two runs while striking out two. Justin Dowdy also picked up his eleventh save of the season pitching a one-two-three ninth.
Shreveport-Bossier got out to the early 1-0 lead in the second inning. Selwyn Langaigne walked to start the inning and Dwayne White followed by lacing a double into the right field corner to put both runners in scoring position. Dan Williams then walked to load the bases before Bryan Sabatella reached on an error by the third basemen giving the Captains the early one run lead.
The AirHogs answered back in the bottom of the third scoring three runs to take the lead. The inning started with Jonathan Dziomba striking out but advancing to first on the passed ball. He then stole second before an Aaron Garza walk. Cesar Nicolas then roped a two RBI double into the left field corner to give the AirHogs the 2-1 lead. After Nicolas advanced to third on a Mike Conroy ground out, Chad Gabriel scored him with a single to left to earn his thirty-six RBI of the season.
Grand Prairie added another run in the next inning when Drew Holder singled to center to and stole second to start off the inning. Aaron Garza followed by hitting an RBI single to shallow center to give the AirHogs the 4-1 lead.
The Captains would score two in the sixth to come within a run and eventually tie the game in the seventh. Jose Torres singled to left to start the inning before Dwayne White reached on an error by the first basemen that put runners on the corners. Kevin Griffin then hugged the first baseline with a two RBI double to make the score 4-3. In the next inning, back-to-back singles from Jose Torres and Andres Rodriguez got the Captains started. Selwyn Langaigne then grounded into a fielder's choice to put runners at the corners and back-to-back walks brought home the tying run making it 4-4.
Shreveport-Bossier would then take the lead for good in the ninth inning. Andres Rodriguez was hit by the pitch and sacrificed to second by Selwyn Langaigne to open the inning. Jose Torres then hit his first homerun of the season to right field to give the Captains their first lead of the game at 6-4.
Aaron Garza led the way for the AirHogs getting three hits in his three at bats scoring a run and knocking one in as well and Chad Gabriel was two out of four with an RBI. For the Captains, Kevin Griffin was two for five with two RBI and Jose Torres was two for four with two RBI, two runs scored and the game winning home run.
