MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Jacksonville Suns (69-58, 35-25) hit two late-inning home runs to jump out of reach in an 8-1 win over the Biscuits (65-66, 28-33) Friday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

With the Biscuits trailing 3-1 in the eighth inning, Derek Dietrick hit a moonshot, two-run home run to right field to make it a 5-1 game. Mark Canha crushed a three-run jack in the ninth inning to make it 8-1 Suns.

The Biscuits scored their only run of the game in the fourth inning when trailing 1-0. Mikie Mahtook blooped single to right, stole second, stole third and scored on a throwing error to tie the game. The Suns then scored two runs in the sixth inning to break the tie.

Jacksonville's 22-year old left-hander, Andrew Heaney (4-1) went seven innings and allowed one unearned run for the win. He struck out five and scattered five hits.

Game two in the series is Saturday night at 6:35. RHP Victor Mateo will take the ball for the Biscuits while RHP Anthony DeSclafani will be on the hill for the Suns.
