Late Homer Drops Power

(Charleston, WV- August 11, 2014)- The West Virginia dropped a 2-1 final to the August GreenJackets on Monday evening at Appalachian Power Park. Cristian Paulino blasted a solo home run in the ninth to give August the win in the series opener.

The Power grabbed the early advantage with a run in the first on an Edwin Espinal RBI single plating JaCoby Jones.

Luis Heredia was dominant over seven innings of work, striking out five and allowing just three hits. The GreenJackets, however, got to the Power bullpen with a run in the eighth on a Tyler Ross RBI single.

In the ninth, Cristian Paulino came through with a solo blast to left field to steal the win from West Virginia.

Brett McKinney (4-4) was charged with the loss while Carlos Diaz (5-6) earned the win and Jacob Smith (5) tallied the save. Edwin Espinal and JaCoby Jones both tallied multi-hit efforts in the loss.
