Bowie, Maryland - The Somerset Patriots (61-44) failed to overcome an early deficit in a 6-3 loss to the Bowie Baysox (61-43) Friday night at Prince George's Stadium.

The Baysox jumped in front with a pair of two run home runs from Kyle Stowers (15) and Jordan Westburg (2) in the top of the first inning. Bowie added two more runs on a Stowers two-run double in the second for the early lead 6-0 lead.

Somerset was held to just one hit over six scoreless innings before breaking through in the seventh. Josh Breaux (6) led off the inning with a solo home run, while Chad Bell (3) later added a two-out, two-run home run. But that was it for Somerset offensively.

Grayson Rodriguez (W, 5-1) worked five scoreless innings for the win. Shawn Semple (L, 6-3) allowed a season-high six runs over three innings and took the loss. Diogenes Almengo (S, 10) worked a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save. Somerset's bullpen worked five scoreless innings to finish the night.

The Patriots are now 0.5 games behind Bowie for the second playoff spot in the Double-A Northeast League with 14 games left in the regular season.

Somerset continues its six-game series in Bowie Saturday night. First pitch at Prince George's Stadium is set for 6:35 p.m.
