Late Home Run Not Enough as Generals Even Series

JACKSON, Tenn.- The Jackson Generals (61-42/19-14) defeated the Biscuits (56-46/20-14) 5-3 behind a strong performance from James Paxton (5-3) Friday night at Pringles Park.

Paxton tossed six strong innings while only allowing one run on four hits. It was Paxton's first win in four starts against the Biscuits.

With the Generals leading 5-1 in the seventh inning, Hak-Ju Lee hit a towering two-run home run that banged off the scoreboard in right-centerfield to bring the Biscuits within two. Lee's home run extended his on-base streak to 39 games.

Yoervis Medina (1) came on to pitch the final two innings of the game. The Venezuelan right-hander did not allow a run while striking out four to pick up his first save of the season.

Montgomery struck first with a two-out RBI-double from Mark Thomas in the second inning to give the Biscuits a 1-0 lead. Jackson would come back with two runs in the third and three in the fifth to take a 5-1 lead.

The series finale between the Biscuits and Generals will be Saturday evening at 6:05. RHP Nick Barnese will start for Montgomery while Jackson will counter with LHP Anthony Fernandez.
