Duarte And Dominguez Transferred To New Orleans

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Suns, Double-A minor league affiliate of the Miami Marlins, announced today that OF Jose Duarte and UTIL Jeff Dominguez have been transferred from Jacksonville to New Orleans. In a corresponding move, RHP Mike Ojala and UTIL Alfredo Lopez have been transferred from Jupiter to Jacksonville.

Duarte heads to New Orleans after appearing in 52 games with Jacksonville in 2012. Duarte hit .204 with one homerun and seven RBI for Jacksonville. In 2012 with New Orleans, Duarte has eight games played with a .207 batting average and one RBI.

Dominguez heads to New Orleans after appearing in 68 games with Jacksonville in 2012. Dominguez hit .252 with four homeruns and 22 RBI for Jacksonville. In 2012 with New Orleans, Dominguez has 16 games played with a .209 batting average and one RBI.

Ojala returns to Jacksonville in which he has appeared in six games in 2012. Ojala was 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA in 10 innings of work with seven strikeouts and five walks recorded. Ojala will wear Jersey No. 38 for Jacksonville.

Lopez makes his first career appearance in Jacksonville after spending much of 2012 with Jupiter. In 51 games with Jupiter, Lopez hit .280 with one homerun and 18 RBI. Lopez was selected out of Compton Community College (Ca.) in the 20th round of the 2010 MLB Draft. In 2011, he hit .244 in 14 games with Jamestown and hit .317 with Jupiter in 24 games. Lopez will be assigned a number upon arrival in Jacksonville.

The Suns roster remains at the maximum of 25 allowed by the Southern League.
