Generals Closer Carter Capps Promoted to AAA Tacoma

JACKSON, TENN. (JULY 27, 2012) - The Seattle Mariners and Jackson Generals announce the following roster move. Generals closer, RHP Carter Capps has been promoted to Triple-A Tacoma today and RHP Jandy Sena returns to Jackson from Tacoma. Also, RHP Andrew Kittredge has been transferred to A+ High Desert.

CAPPS, 21, leaves Jackson as the league leader with 19 saves. Capps has allowed only 2 earned runs (3 R) over his last 37.1 (0.49 ERA). This season he is 2-3 with 19 saves and a 1.26

ERA (7 ER, 50.0 IP). He has limited opponents to a .212 (40x189) average, while walking 12 and striking out 72. Capps has held opponents scoreless in 34 of 38 relief appearances this season. Capps was the Mariners 3rd round pick in 2011 out of Mt. Olive College (NC). The 6-5 righty is from Kinston, NC

SENA, 22, returns from his 3rd stint with Triple-A Tacoma. With Tacoma, Sena is 0-0, with a 7.59 ERA in 5 appearances and 1 start. With Jackson he is 1-1, with a 3.13 ERA in 22 games, 1 start. Sena was the Mariners 23rd round pick out of Miami, FL in the 2010 draft.

KITTREDGE, 22, finished his 3rd stint with the Generals and has appeared in 4 games in Jackson posting a 0-0 record, with a 1.80 ERA in 4 outings. Combined between Jackson, High Desert and Clinton, Kittredge is 2-1, with a 2.45 ERA in 16 relief outings.
