TODAY'S GAME: Today the Generals continue their 9-game homestand (2-5), with game 4 of the 5-game set with the Montgomery Biscuits (TB). Jackson looks to even the series, trailing in the set 2-1. The Generals are 7-7 against Montgomery this season, 3-3 at Pringles Park. Jackson leads the overall series with Montgomery, 69-66. The two teams meet 11 times during the month of July.

GENERALS RECAP: RH Taijuan Walker tossed 6 shutout innings Thursday night and got homers from Brad Miller and Nate Tenbrink as Jackson defeated Montgomery 5-2. The win snapped a 4-game losing skid. Jackson pulled within 1 1/2 game of the Lookouts in the second half SL North standings. Tenbrink delivered a 3-run homer to right with 2 outs in the bottom of the 2nd inning that gave Jackson a 3-0 advantage. The home run was Tenbrink's 4th of the season. Again with 2 outs in the 4th inning, Miller belted his first Double-A home run to right, a 2-run shot making it 5-0. Meanwhile, Walker (7-5) notched his second-straight quality start, logging 6.0 shutout innings, allowing 2 hits, striking out 8 and walking none. LH Jose Jimenez pitched a scoreless 8th inning and RH Carter Capps (pictured right, John Shadrick) pitched a a scoreless ninth after a short 17 minute rain delay. Capps earned his league leading 19th save.

TRANSACTIONS: The Seattle Mariners and Jackson Generals announce the following roster moves today. Generals closer, RHP Carter Capps has been promoted to Triple-A Tacoma today and RHP Jandy Sena returns to Jackson from Tacoma. Also, RHP Andrew Kittredge has been transferred to A+ High Desert

During July Walker is 3-1, with a 3.13 ERA, adding 21 strikeouts and only 8 walks in 4 starts. Walker has turned in back-to-back quality starts his last 2 outings.

MAURER POWER: Generals' starter Brandon Maurer now ranks 6th in the Southern League with a 3.51 ERA after posting his 11th quality start Tuesday night. Maurer leads the Generals in wins (7), strikeouts (96) and innings pitched (115.1). In 4 starts in July, Maurer is 2-0, with a 2.45 ERA in 25.2 IP and 28 strikeouts. Maurer's ERA was 4.62 in May, 3.05 in June and 2.45 in July.

"KISS IT GOODBYE": Over the course of the last 11 games, the Generals have hit 12 home runs, including 4 multi-homer games. The Generals lead the league with 80 homers this season..
