Altoona Curve News Release

BOWIE, Md. - Kervin Pichardo knocked a game-tying RBI-double with two outs in the top of the ninth inning, but the Bowie Baysox rallied back in the tenth inning to walk-off Altoona, 5-4, on Friday night at Prince George's Stadium.

With Altoona trailing 3-2 in the ninth inning, Jackson Glenn reached on a throwing error by third baseman Anthony Servideo. Tres Gonzalez would ground into a fielder's choice with Glenn tagged out between second and third before Pichardo shot a line drive over the head of Bowie's center fielder Donta' Williams's head to score Gonzalez and force extra innings.

Altoona plated the placed runner in the top of the tenth on an Aaron Shackelford infield single, but Billy Cook singled home Bowie's placed runner in the bottom of the frame before John Rhodes ended the contest with a walk-off single of Curve reliever Brad Case.

The Curve got on the board with a first-inning lead-off home run from Matt Fraizer, his first of the season. It came on the fourth pitch of the game from Bowie starter Ryan Long. Altoona added a second inning run off Long on a Pichardo RBI-single before being held scoreless until the ninth inning.

Altoona starter Sean Sullivan spun five scoreless innings in the start, allowing six hits and striking out one batter. He is the second Curve starter to toss five innings this season after Bubba Chandler did so last night.

Jack Carey entered in relief and allowed three runs on three hits in 1.2 innings with four strikeouts in his first Double-A appearance of the season. After recording two outs in the sixth, he allowed a walk and a base hit before Collin Burns knocked a two-run triple to tie the game. Connor Pavolony then singled to give Bowie the lead.

Grant Ford tossed 1.1 scoreless in relief of Carey before Case entered to work a scoreless ninth inning. Shackelford, Pichardo, and Abrahan Gutierrez all finished with two hits in the loss for the Curve, their third loss of the series against the Baysox.

Altoona continues its six-game series with Bowie on Saturday night at 6:35 p.m. RHP Trace Bright will take the mound for the Baysox with RHP Braxton Ashcraft set to start for the Curve.
