The Arkansas Travelers one-upped a big inning by the Round Rock Express with one of their own to help them defeat the Express, 9-6, and conclude the first half for both sides.
3,543 at Ray Winder Field saw Round Rock eliminate a 3-1 fifth inning deficit with a four run explosion. However, Arkansas countered that in the eighth with five runs off of Max Tremblay and Ruddy Lugo.
Tommy Whiteman and Gavin Wright ended the first half strongly, though. Whiteman his his ninth home run and drove in a pair of runs. Wright went 2 for 4 and had three RBIs.
Tremblay (0-1) took the loss and Scott Schneider (2-1) was the winner.
Most of the Express will be off the next four days for the All-Star break. Anthony Acevedo, Chris Burke, D.J. Houlton and Whiteman will be in Wichita Tuesday night for the All-Star Game before rejoining the team in El Paso for a four-game series starting Thursday night.
