Las Vegas Wranglers to Play Topless Hockey
January 29, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas - The Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL announced today that the team will play topless for "Over 18 Night" on Monday, Feb. 4, making history as the world's first topless professional hockey team.
"Going bottomless was simply out of the question," said Wranglers President and Chief Operating Officer Billy Johnson. "Yuck."
The specialty Wranglers jersey, featuring a bare chest and sculpted abs, has a Wranglers crest tattooed over the right pectoral. Adorning the shoulders are a "topless hockey" and Wranglers word mark, with light arm hair filling out the details.
"The guys have never looked to be in better shape," said Johnson. "Nor have they appeared to be as identical."
The Wranglers play the Colorado Eagles in the team's fourth "Over 18 Night" on Feb. 4 at 9:05 p.m. In addition to topless hockey, fans can enjoy performances by comics from Sin City Comedy and mild adult humor throughout the game, including uncensored clips from well-known movies applied to game situations.
In previous seasons the Wranglers have presented Dick Cheney Hunting Vest Night, Rod Blagojevich Prison Uniform Night, and Rapture Night: The Last Hockey Game on Earth. The Wranglers have also played at least one game at midnight since its inception in 2003, and hosted such performers as Mini Kiss and Tony Clifton at games.
Additional promotional dates in 2013 include a concert by legendary alt-country singer/songwriter Todd Snider on Feb. 1, the second annual Wranglers Midnight Circus on Feb. 17 and the third annual Regrettable Tattoo Night on March 23. Tickets are available at www.Wranglers.co or by calling 702-471-PUCK.
