Kevin Estrada Returns to Reign Lineup

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, defending Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champions Los Angeles Kings, announced the return of left winger Kevin Estrada.

Estrada, 30, returns to the Reign after spending part of the 2011-12 season with the team. In 41 games, the Surrey, British Columbia native scored 18 goals and assisted on 18 more for a total of 36 points. He also recorded 93 penalty minutes. A veteran of 281 professional games between the ECHL and the AHL, Estrada has registered a total of 46 goals and 72 assists for 118 points over four seasons. From 2008-10, the 5-foot-11, 197-pound winger played overseas for the Kassel Huskies (DEL), Herlev Hornets (Denmark), and Langenthal (Swiss-B). While playing in Europe he recorded 30 points (8g, 22a) in 50 games.

Estrada spent four years playing at the collegiate level with Michigan State University where he lettered every year. As a junior, he played four seasons with the BCHL's Chilliwack Chiefs. Estrada was the youngest player in team history playing at age 15, and was the youngest captain when he wore the "C" at 18. In 2000, his final season with the Chiefs, he led his team to the BCHL Championships.

Estrada was selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the third round, #91 overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
