Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
Recap of Last Week
The Road Warriors started the week off with great style. The team cruised into the All-Star break with a 4-1 victory against the Gwinnett Gladiators. With this win, the Road Warriors took sole possession of first place in the South Division. Bretton Cameron extended his goal streak to five games, tying his personal high. The good news continued as the Road Warriors' forward learned he was nominated as the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for the week of January 14th-20th.
After defenseman Mike Marcou competed in the 20th ECHL All-Star Game, the Road Warriors were set to return to action in the state of Florida. The post-All-Star-break portion of the Warriors' schedule would begin with a two-game series against the Florida Everblades on Friday and Saturday.
Greenville dominated Florida on Friday night by a 5-1 score. Forward Marc-Olivier Vallerand and Goaltender Scott Stajcer lead the way in route to the team's eighth game without a regulation loss. That streak was snapped on Saturday as the Everblades got revenge and handed the Road Warriors a 5-2 loss. Florida's power play converted on three of four chances and broke Goaltender Nathan Lieuwen's four-game win streak. Brendan Connolly extended his point streak to nine games with an assist.
Week Ahead
The Road Warriors finish their six-game road trip this week with two games against Orlando and one final visit to Estero, Florida to face the Everblades. The Road Warriors take on the Solar Bears on Wednesday and Friday at 7 p.m. Greenville is 3-0-1 against Orlando this season and has outscored the Solar Bears 23-14. The rubber game of the road trip against Florida occurs on Saturday night at 7 p.m. All the games can be viewed courtesy of America One or by clicking the Listen Live link on the Road Warriors homepage.
