Las Vegas Visits USL Championship's Western Conference Leaders Colorado Springs
June 3, 2022 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Las Vegas Lights FC News Release
An intense back-and-forth first half had Lights FC and Switchbacks FC combine for a total of 19 shots.
Colorado Springs opened the score in the 26th minute with a banger from outside the box courtesy of Elvis Amoh. With it, Las Vegas goalkeeper Abraham Romero's streak of 203 minutes without allowing a goal was snapped.
After going into the halftime break with a 1-0 lead, Colorado Springs extended it in the second half with goals from Michee Ngalina in the 57th minute and Matthew Mahoney in the 60th to give Switchbacks a 3-0 win.
Las Vegas didn't have six players who are regulars on the team's gameday roster, due to them being on international duty with their respective national teams: Tomas Romero and Roberto Molina with El Salvador. Antonio Leone, Christian Torres and Nathan Ordaz with the Mexico U20 National Team. Plus, Daron Iskenderian with the Armenian U21 National Team.
SCORING SUMMARY:
1-0 Colorado Springs, Elvis Amoh - 26th minute
2-0 Colorado Springs, Michee Ngalina - 57th minute
3-0 Colorado Springs, Matthew Mahoney - 60th minute
NEXT MATCH:
Lights FC returns to Cashman Field on Saturday, June 11th by hosting Orange County SC, reigning USL Championship title holders. It'll be Fireworks Extravaganza Night presented by Red Apple Fireworks. Tickets are available at LightsFC.com/Tickets.
