The Spark They Needed:
Rio Grande Valley F.C:
A mid-week clash with Atlanta United ll tested the Toros in all aspects. After scoring two unanswered goals in the first half, RGV found themselves on the wrong end of a three-goal run as Atlanta United 2 climbed back into the match and claimed the lead. Defender Robert Coronado entered the match at the 66th minute and went to work offensively. He scored the equalizing goal at the 77th minute and notched the match winner at the 92nd minute to score a brace on the night and secure the three road points for RGV FC which were crucial to remain in the hunt for a playoff position.
Since their debut with RGV, Adolfo Hernandez and Jose Torres have made their offensive contribution. In just two matches played, Jose 'Gringo' Torres has dished out 2 assists with his experience and poise on the field. Hernandez was the spark they needed on offense as he now adds a new weapon up front, he has one assist and one goal in just 85 minutes played.
There are now 11 different rostered players who have written their name in the score sheet for Rio Grande, a welcomed site for Wilmer Cabrera as he inches closer to locking in his full squad and continues to drill the need to score and compliment the efforts well with a solid back line to keep matches manageable.
Look for a new mix of lineups and player positioning this match as the experiment continues to find the perfect formula.
