Loudoun United FC News Release
Loudoun United's Kristian Fletcher Selected for United States U-19 Men's Youth National Team Leesburg, VA. - Young Loudoun United standout Kristian Fletcher has been selected to the United States U-19 Men's Youth National Team. The roster that was announced on Friday will compete in the Marbella Friendlies early next month.
"I'm excited and honored to be called up to the U.S. National Team, but it is also the base standard I set for myself," said forward Kristian Fletcher. "My goal is to reach the U-20 World Cup team, but I am excited to go into this tournament to play England and Norway, it will be a great experience."
Fletcher earns his first call-up by Head Coach Marko Mitrović in this cycle after making his USL Championship debut against Detroit City FC on May 14. Fletcher has since made an appearance in Loudoun United's last two matches in the USL Championship.
"I am really happy for Kristian, he's been a great addition to our team," said Head Coach Ryan Martin. "He is very direct to goal, which is something you don't see a lot in American strikers so the way he can get to goal, and attack is very special. He shows a lot of maturity for a 16-year-old kid and I'm excited for his call-up to the U.S. National Team."
The United States will face England on June 6 and Norway on June 9 as a part of the event, with kickoff scheduled for 12 p.m. ET at the Marbella Football Center's Dama de Noche pitches for both matches.
Kristian Fletcher is joined by USL Championship's Joshua Wynder of Louisville City FC and Korede Osundina of Orange County SC.
