Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
LAS VEGAS, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today that the team has agreed to terms with center Adam Miller and defenseman Gerard Miller.
"I think we have added two quality players to our roster," said General Manager Glen Gulutzan. "As we saw in the playoffs and at the end of the season, Adam is a very skilled young man who is capable of playing at the next level. Gerard Miller is a solid defenseman who should provide some offensive punch for us on the blueline."
Adam Miller returns after finishing the regular season and the 2008 Kelly Cup Playoffs with Las Vegas. In the final nine games of the regular season, Miller scored three times and set up five others for eight points. Miller excelled in the playoffs, posting 12 assists and 16 points in 20 Kelly Cup Playoff contests. The rookie center placed second overall in playoff plus-minus with a +13. His 16 playoffs points finished tied for tenth in the ECHL. Prior to joining the Wranglers, the Livonia, MI native spent four years at Ferris State University. In 146 games with the Bulldogs, the 23-year old scored 30 goals and added 47 assists for 77 points.
Gerard Miller was named as the future consideration on June 18th, 2008 for the trade that sent right wing Sean O'Connor to the Phoenix RoadRunners in late September 2007. The 25-year old enters his fourth season of professional hockey after splitting the 2007-08 season between the American Hockey League and the ECHL. In 41 games in the ECHL for both Cincinnati and Phoenix, Miller posted 21 assists and 25 points. The Cold Spring Harbor, NY native also played in the AHL for Binghamton, Milwaukee and Hamilton. In all the, 6-foot, 205-pounder played in eight AHL games while recording one assist.
Miller spent the 2006-07 season with Flint (UHL) and finished fourth among defensemen in scoring with 57 points. He collected 13 goals during the season (nine on the power play, second-most in the league among defensemen) and dished out 44 assists (third-most among blueliners). Miller had eleven multi-point games during the 2006-07 season. The defenseman played two seasons (2004-05 and 2005-06) with Eisbaren Berlin and tallied five goals and 16 assists in 61 games in Germany. Gerard played collegiately at the University of Vermont, where he earned three varsity letters and played more than 70 games.
The Miller's signings increase the announced total of players signed for the 2008-09 season to eight. Center Matt Beaudoin recently joined defensemen Bret Tyler, Jason Dest and Mike Madill, as well as forwards Tyler Mosienko and Brandon Kaleniecki. More player signings will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
