September 3, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Bakersfield Condors News Release
Condor, only to have your dream shattered when you remembered you can't skate or handle a puck? It's ok, you can join the Condors in another way. The Bakersfield Condors are searching for on-ice vocal artists to perform the Star Spangled Banner, loveable mascots to cheer on the home team and cause a little mischief in the stands, and game day workers to make the Condors hockey experience as memorable as possible.
On Monday, Sept. 22, National Anthem tryouts will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Rabobank Arena. Individual singers and small groups are invited to audition for the chance to perform in front of thousands during the season. Those able to sing the Canadian National Anthem are also encouraged to attend. Amy Adams, American Idol finalist from season three, will serve as a guest judge along with Condors front office talent scouts. Call the front office in advance to sign up for a time slot, 324-PUCK (7825).
The annual Job Fair will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 24 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Rabobank Theater and Convention Center, located at 1001 Truxtun Ave. Applicants should head to the lobby to check in. These are game-day positions with current openings for Program Sales, Promotions Team, Kids Zone, Chuck-A-Puck Sales, Mascot Bodyguard, Merchandise and more. Applicants must available for the majority of Condors home games. All positions are recommended for applicants that have an interest in a career in professional sports. Those interested are encouraged to fill out an application in the Condors front office (1001 Truxtun Ave.) prior to the Job Fair to secure an early interview appointment.
"This is a great chance for people to get their foot in the door," said Condors President Matthew Riley. "My start in professional sports began with me cleaning up the baseball stands and pulling the tarp out for rain delays. Now I have over 15 years of experience as a GM in professional baseball and hockey."
Mascot Tryouts will be held Friday, Sept. 26 starting at 4 p.m. at the Bakersfield Ice Sports Center, located at 1325 Q Street. The Condors are looking for individuals with charisma, enthusiasm, and a passion for entertaining. Applicants must be able to attend community appearances during the work week and interact with fans on game nights. Most importantly, applicants must be energetic and enthusiastic and be willing to act silly and loveable at the same time. Bonus points if you can skate as well, but it's not required.
