Bombers Net Goal-Scorer Riedel

Dayton, OH - The Dayton Bombers have signed right wing Dan Riedel, Head Coach Bill McDonald announced today. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Riedel, a 5-foot-9-inch forward comes to the Bombers following a 52-point season with the Muskegon Fury of the IHL. He tallied 29 goals and 23 points during 67 regular season games. He went on to score 7 more points (3g,4a) in 6 post-season appearances. For his efforts Riedel was named Forward of the Week and Rookie of the Week back-to-back in December 2007.

"I'm looking for good things out of Dan this season," McDonald said. "His forte is his strong shot, so hopefully he can use that to put the puck in the net and achieve good numbers for us."

The Rochester Hills, Michigan, native played two seasons at Ferris State University from 2005 to 2007. He picked up 43 points (14g,29a), including a 31-point freshman season (earning him CCHA All-Rookie Team honors) before heading to the ECHL in 2007. There he split the remainder of the 2006-07 season between Phoenix, Toledo and Pensacola.

"I'm excited to have the opportunity to score some goals for the Bombers," Riedel said. "Scoring goals is a thrill and I'm glad to be able to help my team in that role."

Prior to his collegiate career Riedel skated for the Springfield Junior Blues of the NAHL and Lincoln Stars of the USHL. Throughout his junior career he tallied an astounding 206 points (89g,117a) in 170 games. His breakout season came in 2004-05 with Lincoln, when he netted 30 goals and 51 assists in 60 games.

Even before his junior hockey career took off, Riedel had a connection with the Bombers. He and fellow Dayton skater Nino Musitelli have been teammates and practice partners since they were 10 years old. Riedel said that he's especially looking forward to skating with players he's familiar with, including former Ferris State teammate Zach Pearson.
