Peoria Rivermen News Release
ST. LOUIS (September 21, 2009) - St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced Sunday the club has reduced its roster to 40 players.
Defensemen Bryce Lampman and Danny Richmond along with forwards Lars Eller and Brett Sonne were assigned to the Blues' American Hockey League affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.
In addition, goaltender Jake Allen was assigned to his junior team (Montreal Junior Hockey Club).
Eller, 20, was selected by the Blues with the 13th overall pick in the 2007 draft. This season will be his first in North America after spending the last two season playing Froulunda of the Swedish Elite League. Last season the native of Rodovre, Denmark accumulated 29 points (12g, 17a) in 48 games.
Sonne, 20, was a third round selection (85th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. He played parts of five seasons in the WHL with the Calgary Hitmen and during his final year helped the Hitmen to a league-best 59-9-3-1 record. His 100 points (48g, 52a) propelled him to WHL Player of the Year and also landed him a spot on the Canadian junior team that won a gold medal at the 2009 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships.
Richmond, 25, was acquired by the Blues on March 4 from the Pittsburgh Penguins and assigned to Peoria. In 18 games with the Rivermen last season he tallied one goal and four assists to go along with 21 penalty minutes. He also chipped in four assists in Peoria's first round playoff matchup against Houston. Selected by Carolina in the second round (31st overall) in 2003, Richmond has appeared in 49 NHL games with the Hurricanes and Chicago Blackhawks.
Lampman, 27, played in just nine games last season with Amur Khabarovsk (KHL). Drafted by the New York Rangers in the fourth round (113th overall) in 2001, Lampman has 10 games of NHL experience over his seven professional seasons.
Single game tickets are now on sale as well as full and partial season ticket packages through the team's office at the Peoria Civic Center by calling (309) 676-1040.
