September 21, 2009 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Rochester Americans News Release
(Rochester, NY)... Everyone has heard of "Cheap Seats" and "VIP Seats." Well, the Rochester Americans are rolling out the social media version of the often-sought after seating areas with the unveiling of "Tweet Seats."
During the 2009-10 season, fans can win four premium seats each game exclusively though the Amerks' Twitter page at twitter.com/amerkshockey. The "Tweet Seats" promotion will begin at noon on Saturday, October 3rd prior to the Amerks' 7:05 p.m. home and season opener against the Lake Erie Monsters at The Blue Cross Arena.
"The Rochester Americans realize the importance of new media as a way to market our brand to a different core group of fans," said VP of Communications Craig Rybczynski. "The 'Tweet Seats' concept is only the first of many promotions we will run this season using Twitter."
Each game, the Amerks will post a trivia question on their Twitter page and will select the winner from the first 10 fans that submit the correct answer. To be eligible, all answers must be sent using the Direct Message link. The winners will be contacted directly through their individual Twitter accounts.
Fans can join the Amerks' Twitter community by entering twitter.com/amerkshockey and choosing to "follow" the posts. You must be a subscriber to Twitter to use the service. Go to twitter.com for more details.
Twitter allows its users to send and read other users' updates known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 bytes in length. Updates are displayed on the user's profile page and delivered to other users who have signed up to receive them. The service is free to use over the web.
