
Joe Brown Hired as New Voice of the Syracuse Crunch

Syracuse, NY (September 21, 2009) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that they have hired Joe Brown as the club's new radio and television play-by-play announcer.
Brown, 40, brings an extensive background with over 17 years of experience to the broadcast booth, serving as either a sports anchor or director for a multitude of television stations since 1992, including stints at WKTV-Utica, FOX-68-Syracuse and WSTM-Syracuse.
Brown served as a studio host for Altitude Sports and Entertainment from 2005-07, covering all Colorado Avalanche and Denver Nuggets broadcasts. During his time in Denver, he also did play-by-play for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies) and the Big Sky Conference (Division I Football).
Brown served as a sports anchor/reporter at WKYC in Cleveland from 2007-08, where he hosted Indians Tonight, Browns Tonight, Browns Pre-game Huddle and was a sideline reporter for Cleveland Browns preseason games.
Most recently, Brown filled in for former Crunch broadcaster Bob McElligott on a number of occasions last season. He also worked as a television play-by-play announcer for the Colgate University men's and women's ice hockey teams as well as a number of other ECAC and high school hockey games for Time Warner Cable Sports.
In addition to his role as the club's broadcaster, Brown will have sales and community relations responsibilities. A native of Syracuse, Brown received a bachelor's degree in Communications/Media from SUNY Fredonia in 1991.
The Crunch open their 16th AHL season on Saturday, October 3 in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Syracuse opens up at home the following weekend when they face Adirondack on Saturday, October 10. Season tickets are now on sale and can be purchased by calling the Crunch office at (315) 473- 4444 or by stopping by the Crunch office in the War Memorial at Oncenter, located at 800 South State Street in downtown Syracuse.
