Texas AirHogs News Release
LAREDO, Texas - The AirHogs dropped their 2nd straight in Laredo Saturday night by a final of 9-2. Austin Gallagher went deep in the contest. The Lemurs tagged AirHogs starter Griffin Russell for an unearned run in the 3rd on an RBI double by Jesus Posso. The AirHogs evened the score at 1 immediately in the top of the 4th, using an RBI single by Cody Lenahan to score Burt Reynolds.
After loading the bases in the 5th, Russell hit Laredo 3B Cesar Valera in the ankle to score a run and then had another tacked on on an RBI fieder's choice by Denis Phipps to make it 3-1.
Russell again allowed the bases loaded in the 6th before being relieved by Paxton Bartley. Laredo scored all 3 he inherited on a wild pitch, an RBI single by PH Alvaro Rondon, and an RBI groundout by Leandro Castro to run its lead to 5.
After managing just 3 hits and 1 run over 6 innings vs. Laredo starter Troy Marks, the AirHogs were able to get to the Lemurs bullpen. Gallagher tagged relief man Jose Nivar for a solo home run to start the 8th and cut the deficit to 6-2. The blast was the 2nd of the year for Gallagher.
Unfortunately, Posso stepped up again for Laredo, launching a 3-run home run off David Wayne Russo to put the game out of reach in the bottom of the 8th.
Griffin absorbed his 5th loss, while Marks picked up his 1st win. The AirHogs (17-25) and the Lemurs (25-17) close out the series tomorrow at 7:05. RHP Sam Martin is expected to start for the AirHogs.
