St. Paul Saints News Release

KANSAS CITY, KS - The St. Paul Saints and Kansas City T-Bones were a half inning from an official game Saturday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. Then the rains came. Although, it didn't make much difference because when play was halted the game was tied at three right before the bottom of the fifth was to get underway. The two teams will resume the game on Sunday beginning at 5:15 p.m. and complete the nine inning contest. The regularly scheduled game will follow 30 minutes at the conclusion of the resumed game and will now be scheduled for seven innings.

The Saints jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first when Breland Almadova singled with one out. Nate Hanson doubled to left scoring Almadova to make it 1-0. Angelo Songco knocked home Hanson to make it 2-0.

In the bottom of the inning, however, the T-Bones scored three on Saints starter John Straka. Starlin Rodriguez led off with a single to left-center. Tyler Massey hit a ball that skidded past shortstop Tony Thomas that was originally scored an error and then changed to a hit. With two outs Vladimir Frias doubled both home to tie the game at two. Brett Wiley's swinging bunt to third put runners at the corners and Jimmy Mojica hit a seeing-eye single just off the glove of a lunging Hanson at third to score Frias and give the T-Bones a 3-2 lead.

In the third the Saints tied it when Hanson led off with a walk. He moved to second on a single by Songco. A deep fly ball by Thomas moved Hanson to third and he scored on a two-out infield single by Tony Caldwell tying the game at three.

Following the conclusion of the resumed game the Saints and T-Bones will play the regularly scheduled game. The Saints send RHP Alec Crawford (1-3, 9.25) to the mound against T-Bones RHP Jared Messer (2-0, 2.60). Both games can be heard on Club 1220 KLBB.
