Lake County Captains News Release
(Lansing, MI) - Lansing scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and defeated the Captains by a final of 6-0 on Tuesday Night. In the inning Lansing used four hits, two walks and an error to score the six runs. The Lugnuts sent 10 men to the plate in the inning. Chris Hawkins doubled home run number one and then the floodgates opened as Lansing had their second big inning of the series, which propelled them to a win.
Lake County had just two hits in the ballgame. Yhoxian Medina singled to lead off the ballgame and Eric Haase singled in the second. The Captains had just one base runner reach third base all night. Lake County had 17 hits and scored 9 runs on Monday Night.
LHP Luis Lugo (0-0) started the game for Lake County and did not factor into the decision. Lugo pitched five innings of shutout baseball and walked just one. Lugo allowed two hits and struck out five. This was the 19 year old Lugo's Midwest league debut. Luis Morel (5-4) took the loss after pitching one and two thirds innings and allowed four hits, all six runs and four of the six were earned. Morel walked three on the night. Cody Penny pitched one and one third inning and walked one while striking out one.
LHP Daniel Norris (1-7) took the ball for Lansing and did not factor in the decision. Norris pitched six innings of shutout baseball and allowed just two hits one walk and four strikeouts. Javier Avendano (8-6) earned the win after pitching three innings one walk and four strikeouts.
Tomorrow the Captains will feature a special buy two, get two special on hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, French fries, onion rings, nachos and popcorn.
The Captains will return to Eastlake, Ohio on Wednesday to take on the Dayton Dragons in the first game of a three game set. The Captains will start RHP Dylan Baker (7-6, 3.77) to start the ballgame and the Dragons will throw with LHP Amir Garrett (1-2, 5.16). First Pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM from Classic Park.
