Langhorne's 7-RBI Game Highlights D-Braves Winning Road Trip

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - After winning splitting the first two games in Kingsport, the Danville Braves finished its roadtrip with an overall 4-2 road mark against the Mets and Johnson City Cardinals last week.

Brett Langhorne, Griffin Benson and Henry Quintero all had offensive outbreaks that surged the D-Braves at the plate.

Langhorne is hitting .556 (10-for-18) in his last four games with seven RBIs and four runs scored. The Carson-Newman product led the D-Braves offense on Thursday night with seven RBIs., which is a single-game season high for any D-Brave.

Griffin Benson is 7-for-17 in his last four games, hitting two homers and driving in eight with four runs scored. Benson hit a lead-extending homerun on Saturday night, and now leads the team with three big flies on the season.

Henry Quintero has hit .455 in his last five games (10-for-22), driving in six runs over that stretch. Quintero has raised his batting average to .288 on the season with a .357 mark on the road.

Thursday, July 26 (W, 13-0 at Kingsport)

The D-Braves tied their largest margin of victory on the season without an extra-base hit against the Mets at Hunter Wright Stadium.

Brett Langhorne went 2-for-4 and posted seven RBIs. Henry Quintero added a 4-for-6 mark all on singles.

Dilmer Mejia pitched six shutout innings, allowing six hits and sending down three batters on strikes. Mejia lowers his ERA to a 2.42 on the season.

Friday, July 27 (W, 7-5 at Johnson City)

The Braves used a seven-run fifth inning to win their third consecutive game at TVA Credit Union Ballpark in their 7-5 win Friday.

Andrew Moritz began the scoring with a two-RBI triple, to tie the game at 2-2. Henry Quintero handed the D-Braves their first lead of the game with a single up the middle, scoring two on the hit. Nicholas Vizcaino and Zack Soria followed with run-scoring singles, to give the D-Braves a 7-2 lead.

D-Braves pitcher Connor Simmons came in and shut the door for Danville, pitching three innings and allowing one run. Simmons struck out four Cardinals and allowed three hits., and earned his first save of the year.

Saturday, July 28 (W, 7-4 at Johnson City)

Danville scored four runs in the ninth inning to win their fourth straight game on Saturday night.

Henry Quintero scorched a single to right, tying the game at 4-4. Griffin Benson cleaned up the rest off the bases with a three-run double down the right field line, giving the D-Braves everything they would need.

Zach Guth and Zach Seipel combined for four shutout innings to close out the game. Over their appearances, they combined for two hits and four strikeouts. Guth earned the win and Seipel earned his first save of his career.

Sunday, July 29 (L, 1-8 at Johnson City)

The D-Braves scored their only run of the day off a Justin Smith single up the middle, following a Brett Langhorne double.

Jose Montilla surrendered two homeruns on the day, including a grandslam in the bottom of the fifth inning. Montilla tallied the most earned runs allowed by a D-Braves pitcher (6) and hits (10) in the 2018 season.
