REDINGTON SHORES, Fla. - Greeneville Reds' infielder Rylan Thomas and Burlington Royals' pitcher Yerelmy Garcia have been named Appalachian League Players of the Week for July 23-29, as announced by Minor League Baseball Monday.
Thomas posted a .526/.654/1.316 slash line in six games for the Reds, going 10-for-19 with three doubles, four home runs, eight RBI, eight runs scored, and seven walks. The first baseman tallied four multi-hit games and recorded a hit in all six games from July 23-29. Cincinnati drafted Thomas, 21, in the 26th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Central Florida.
Garcia earned Pitcher of the Week honors after a seven-inning, one-hit performance in a 5-0 Burlington victory over the Elizabethton Twins on July 26. Garcia, 22, struck out three while allowing just the one hit and zero runs en route to earning his second win of the season. Kansas City signed Garcia, originally from Sabana Grande de Palenque in the Dominican Republic, to a minor league contract on August 12, 2015.
