Lancers Top Stars in Series Finale, 4-1

RALSTON, NE - Friday night the Lancers faced off against their bitter rivals, the Lincoln Stars in the season series finale. The series between Omaha and Lincoln is still in the Lancers favor, even though Omaha has dropped the past three games to Lincoln. Omaha came into the game with a record of 37-16-2-3 with 79 points and holding on to their spot at second place heading into the Clark Cup Playoffs. Four-time USHL Goaltender of the Week, Zach Driscoll was called to play between the pipes. Driscoll is ranked third among all goaltenders in the USHL with a 1.93 GAA and a .933 SV%. Lancers forward and Lincoln native, Ethan Price will be playing against the team he started his USHL career with for the final time. Price has notched 331 games in Junior hockey playing in the WHL and USHL. Omaha and Lincoln united before puck drop in remembrance of the Humboldt Broncos.

Midway through the first period, Ryan Savage scored. The Stars were trying to move the puck out of the zone when Omaha broke it up. Savage picked it up on the left wing and rang it past Tomas Vomacka. Omaha held the 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.

After a scoreless second period, the scoring picked up again in the third. The Lancers scored back-to-back goals coming from Cole Gallant and Christian O'Neill. Nearing the halfway mark of the period, Lincoln scored on Zach Driscoll. With two minutes left to play, Lincoln pulled Vomacka for the extra attacker. Jesper Peltonen scored from the Lancers blueline on the empty net to solidify the win for Omaha. The Lancers won 4-1 and took the season series against the Stars, 6-2-0-1.

Zach Driscoll stopped 27 of the 28 Stars shots he faced.

Omaha improves to 38-16-2-3 with 81 points and still sit at second place in the USHL Western Conference. It will come down to tomorrow to find out the fate of the Lancers in the post-season and when the playoffs will start in Omaha.
