Omaha Lancers News Release

Ralston, NE - The Omaha Lancers announced Monday the signing of Cameron Berg (2002) to a USHL tender agreement for the 2018-19 season.

The Lancers signing of Berg marks the second time this season the team has tendered a player. Before this year, the last tender the Lancers signed was Jack Randl in 2016. The USHL tender process allows teams to sign a player prior to the USHL Phase I Draft in exchange for a first or second-round pick.

Now in its seventh year, the USHL tender process allows teams to sign up to two 2002 birth year players prior to the 2018 USHL Phase I Draft, which takes place on Monday, May 7th at 6:00 PM CT.

Berg's singing will take the place of Omaha's second-round selection in the USHL Phase I Draft. Each tendered player will be on their respective team's roster the next season and play at least 55% of the team's regular season games.

"'Cameron embodies what we are looking for in future Lancer Players," Head Coach David Wilkie said. "He plays big, he plays a fast north-south game and he has a tremendous work ethic. We feel extremely fortunate to have been able to tender him and we welcome Cameron and his family to LancerNation."

Berg, a native of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, is currently playing with the Omaha AAA Lancers U16. Berg played 53 games last season where he totaled 62 points (33G and 39A).

"I am excited to take this next important step in the same city where I played midget hockey with the Omaha Hockey Club AAA and will continue my career at the University of Nebraska-Omaha one day," Berg said.

Berg is committed to continuing his hockey career here in Omaha at the University of Nebraska - Omaha.

Berg is the seventh player to be tendered by Omaha since the start of the USHL tender process, joining Ryan Tait(2012), Jake Henderson (2013), Hank Crone (2014), Brannon McManus, Jack Randl (2016) and Chase Bradley(2018).

"The tender process for the Omaha Lancers was enormously successful with Jack Randl," Wilkie said. "With both of our tenders this year, simply put, we sought out players in that mold."

Berg become the 11th player signed to a tender for the 2018-19 season, joining Ruben Rafkin (Tri-City Storm), Chase Bradley (Omaha Lancers), Colby Ambrosio (Tri-City Storm), Alex Gaffney (Muskegon Lumberjacks), Ben Schoen (Youngstown Phantoms) and Wyatt Schingoethe (Waterloo Black Hawks), Andrei Bakanov (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Anthony Kehrer (Sioux City Musketeers), Isaac Novak (Des Moines Buccaneers) and Patrick Schmiedlin (Des Moines Buccaneers).
