Omaha Lancers Sign Cameron Berg to Tender
May 7, 2018 - United States Hockey League (USHL) News Release
The Omaha Lancers signed forward Cameron Berg to a tender agreement on Saturday for the 2018-2019 season. Berg is a native of White Bear Lake, MN and is committed to the University of Nebraska Omaha.
Now in its seventh year, the USHL tender process allows teams to sign up to two 2002 birth year players prior to the 2018 USHL Phase I Draft, which takes place on May 7.
Berg is the second tender signing for Omaha this season, joining forward Chase Bradley, who was tendered on Mar. 19. The signing of Berg will replace the Lancers' second round draft choice in the 2018 USHL Phase I Draft.
Berg skated in seven games this season with the Omaha AAA 16U program, tallying seven points (4G, 3A) in those contests. He is also an alum of the USHL Combine, part of the USHL Development Series.
"I am excited to take this next important step in the same city where I played midget hockey with the Omaha Hockey Club AAA and will continue my career at the University of Nebraska-Omaha one day," Berg said.
"Cameron embodies what we are looking for in future Lancer Players," Omaha head coach David Wilkie said. "He plays big, he plays a fast north-south game and he has a tremendous work ethic. We feel extremely fortunate to have been able to tender him and we welcome Cameron and his family to LancerNation."
Berg become the 11th player signed to a tender for the 2018-19 season, joining Ruben Rafkin (Tri-City Storm), Chase Bradley (Omaha Lancers), Colby Ambrosio (Tri-City Storm), Alex Gaffney (Muskegon Lumberjacks), Ben Schoen (Youngstown Phantoms) and Wyatt Schingoethe (Waterloo Black Hawks), Andrei Bakanov (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Anthony Kehrer (Sioux City Musketeers), Isaac Novak (Des Moines Buccaneers) and Patrick Schmiedlin (Des Moines Buccaneers).
Berg is the seventh player to be tendered by Omaha since the start of the USHL tender process, joining Ryan Tait (2012), Jake Henderson (2013), Hank Crone (2014), Brannon McManus, Jack Randl (2016) and Chase Bradley (2018).
