Urbandale, IA - The Lancers and Buccaneers faced off for the season series finale on Saturday night. Omaha leads the series 7-1 against Des Moines. The Lancers gave Zach Driscoll the green light to play in net. Driscoll is ranked third in the USHL among goalies with a 1.99 GAA and a .931 SV%.
Four minutes into the first period, Noah Cates got the Lancers on the board. Filip Suchy and Cole Gallant were called for the assist on the play. Cates took a pass from Suchy to beat Kelly to the right post. Omaha held the 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
Late in the third period, Brendan Furry scored to give Omaha a 2-0 lead. Des Moines pulled Kelly for the extra attacker but were unsuccessful. The Lancers won 2-0 and finished the season series against Des Moines 7-1.
Driscoll stopped all 25 shots that he faced earning himself his 8th shutout of the season.
The Lancers improve to 37-16-2-3 with 79 points.
