December 6, 2013 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Omaha Lancers News Release
CITY, ST - In the first game of a two game weekend series vs. the Fargo Force, the Omaha Lancers rode a 16-save shutout from veteran goaltender Cole Bruns, the future Army Black Knight's league-leading seventh shutout of the season, to a 1-0 victory on Friday at Ralston Arena. With the win, Omaha improved to 18-3-2 overall this season and with 38 points, remain alone atop the Western Conference and overall USHL standings.
After a penalty-riddled but ultimately scoreless opening period, the Lancers grabbed control of the game at 10:15 of the middle frame when Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson zipped a shorthanded feed from Luca Frigo past the outstretched glove of Fargo goaltender Cameron Johnson for the Stockholm, Sweden native's fifth goal of the year, a tally that staked the Lancers to a 1-0 lead, an advantage that stood up the rest of the way for Omaha.
Next up for the Lancers, it's a Saturday rematch with the Force at Ralston Arena at 7:05 pm on "Wine, Women & Hockey" Night, presented by Celerion. Full coverage of Saturday's game begins with the "Valpak Pregame Show" at 6:50 pm on the Lancers' flagship station, "The Mighty" 1290 KOIL with Lancers broadcaster Tony Brown providing the play-by-play.
