Youngstown Phantoms News Release

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Youngstown Phantoms are pleased to announce that Ryan Schwepfinger has joined the team as its new media relations coordinator and broadcaster. Schwepfinger will assume the role of "Voice of the Phantoms," providing play-by-play of all games, home and away, on Sports Radio 1240 and FASTHockey.com.

"I'm thrilled to be joining the Phantoms in this capacity, and I look forward to calling the action," Schwepfinger said. "The speed and skill on display in junior hockey, particularly the USHL, is consistently exciting and entertaining. I couldn't be happier than I am to be involved here in Youngstown."

In his new role, Schwepfinger will also be responsible for overseeing the club's communications efforts, including drafting press releases, game previews and recaps, while also serving as a liaison between team personnel and local and national media. He will also host the team's weekly radio show "Youngstown Phantoms: Behind the Glass," which air Wednesdays from 7-8 p.m. on Sports Radio 1240.

Schwepfinger joins the Phantoms after previous public relations experience with the New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, and MLS' Philadelphia Union. In addition, he has served as the announcer and website writer for the Tier III USPHL Philadelphia Flyers, as well as the Managing Editor for Hockey Prospectus.

He will be replacing Bart Logan, who is departing the club to pursue a different career opportunity in his hometown of Columbus, Ohio. He joined the Phantoms organization in September 2011 and called more 100 regular season and playoff games over two and a half years behind the microphone.

A graduate of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University, Logan received a number of honors during his career in Youngstown. He was selected to be part of the broadcast team for the inaugural USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game and co-anchored The League's coverage of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft in Pittsburgh. Additionally, his call of Phantoms alumnus Austin Cangelosi's playoff overtime goal April 16, 2012 vs. the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, dubbed "The Chip Shot," was featured as the No. 3 play on the ESPN's SportsCenter "Top 10 Plays."

Logan will call his final two games for the Phantoms Friday, Dec. 6 vs. the Chicago Steel and this Saturday, Dec. 7 vs. Team USA along side long-time color analyst Matt Lipcsak.

"This is a very bittersweet moment for me," Logan said. "I'm very excited to pursue the new challenge ahead of me, but I will truly miss this team, this league and this wonderful city. I will always be thankful to [Phantoms owner] Bruce Zoldan and [B.J. Alan Co. vice president] Bill Weimer for giving me opportunity to work in the sport I love. It's been such a privilege working for them and with the incredible front office, hockey operations staff, off-ice officiating crew, local media and, of course, the tremendous fans here in Youngstown."

Single game tickets are on sale now for all Phantoms' home games at the Covelli Centre. Phantoms 10-Game Flex Plans are also available starting at the low price of just $89.
