Omaha Lancers News Release

OMAHA, NE. - The Lancers concluded their weekend Saturday night (2/24) at Liberty First Credit Union Arena against the Tri-City Storm. Both teams would come off a disappointing performance the previous night with each team falling to the hands of the top two teams in the Western Conference.

The Lancers came out with a ton of energy early on in front of a sell-out crowd at Liberty First Credit Union Arena.

Tri-City would get on the board first with forward Zach Bade wristing one top-shelf to give the Storm an early 1-0 lead.

However, the Lancers would respond with a goal of their own as forward Cam VanSickle would bury his own rebound to knot it up at one apiece.

Tri-City would answer right back as forward Artemi Nizameyev would cherry pick behind the Lancers' defense; giving Nizameyev a breakaway goal to put Tri-City back in front at 2-1 going into the second period of play.

The second period would have Tri-City explode offensively.

The scoring would start with forward Trevor Connelly, putting the Storm up 3-1.

Shortly thereafter, Carmelo Crandell would get on the board, stretching the Storm's lead at 4-1.

Brandt Harper would get in on the fun, giving Tri-City a 5-1 lead.

Finally, Ryan Smith would cap off the second period with a 6-spot, giving the Storm a commanding 6-1 lead going into the third.

The third period would begin with a Tri-City power-play as Ryan Smith would tack on another for the Storm on the ensuing power-play to make it 7-1 Storm.

Lancers' forward Will Elger would find the back of the cage himself, cutting the deficit to 7-2.

Tri-City's Vladislav Lukashevich would slap shot one from the point past Lancer goalie Mikhail Yegorov, as Yegorov would be screened by a fellow Lancer out in front.

A.J. Lacroix would cap it off with another Tri-City goal to help give the Storm an 9-2 victory.

The Lancers are back in action Saturday night (3/2) in Illinois to take on the Chicago Steel. You can catch the game on Mixlr or FloSports.
