Sioux Falls Stampede News Release
URBANDALE, IOWA- The Sioux Falls Stampede added an eighth-straight loss to its record after a 5-2 loss to the Des Moines Buccaneers. Tyler Borgula and Noah Eyre each tabbed goals while Michael Chambre was tabbed with the loss in net.
Most of the day's scoring came from the first period. Des Moines got on the board early, just 4:03 into the period, and added a second goal around five minutes later. The Herd fired back with a goal of its own at the 14:34 mark. The goal from Tyler Borgula marked the 19th of his season and was assisted by Jaksen Panzer and Grant Dillard. The Buccaneers found one more goal with 2:01 remaining. Finally, Stampede forward Noah Eyre earned the second of his career with just 23 seconds remaining.
Fighting a one-goal deficit, the Herd started to struggle more in the second period. Goaltender Michael Chambre allowed an additional two goals from Des Moines to make it a 5-2, three-goal deficit. After a lack of penalties in the first period, four were handed out in the second, two for each program. For the Herd, Grant Dillard and Will McDonough were served with high-sticking and hooking minors, respectively.
A scoreless third period kept the three-goal deficit, causing tensions to flare throughout the period. The tensions grew with under five minutes remaining when Kaz Sobieski was served with a two-minute roughing minor and a 10-minute misconduct for unsportsmanlike conduct. The Herd was unable to work around its struggles, giving up the eighth straight loss in a row and going winless over the month of February.
Over the next few weeks, the team will travel to Fargo, N.D., Middleton, Wisc., Sioux City, Iowa and Omaha, Neb. for the next three weeks of this road series. They head to Fargo on Mar. 1 and 2 to take on the Fargo Force. The next time they'll be at the PREMIER Center is on March 17 for Stomp's Birthday Bash. Tickets for the three remaining Stampede home games are available now through the KELOLAND box office, Stampede office, or any Ticketmaster outlets.
