Storm Set for Rivalry Matchup against Lancers

RALSTON, NE. - The Tri-City Storm is set for tonight's rivalry matchup against the Omaha Lancers at Liberty First Credit Union Arena following last night's 4-1 road loss to the Sioux City Musketeers at the Tyson Events Center. The Storm will play four consecutive games against in-state rivals with a three-game series against the Lincoln Stars next weekend. Puck drop for tonight's game between the Storm and the Lancers is scheduled for 6:05pm CT.

Tri-City (21-15-4-4) enters tonight's road game against Omaha as the 4th-place team in the USHL's Western Conference standings. Ryan Smith scored the Storm's only goal of last night's three-goal road loss to the Musketeers during the 3rd period. Tri-City dropped to 5-3-2-0 in the team's last ten games, and 1-2-1-1 in head-to-head battles against Sioux City this season. The Storm has won all four previous games played against the Lancers this season, and has won thirteen of the last eighteen games played at Liberty First Credit Union Arena. Tri-City's last road loss to Omaha came over a year ago by a final score of 4-1 on February 3rd, 2023. Scoring leaders for the Storm entering tonight's final game of the weekend include Trevor Connelly (20), Ryan Smith (17), Cam Briere (16), Owen Beckner (11), Jake Rozzi (11), and August Falloon (11). Tri-City will return home to the Viaero Center to play seven consecutive home games one week from tonight following one final road game on Friday, March 1st against the Lincoln Stars. Saturday's home game at the Viaero Center will serve as the organization's Kool-Aid Night. The Storm will wear specialty jerseys that will be auctioned off following the game. Omaha (7-34-3-0) has dropped fourteen consecutive games following last night's 4-0 shutout loss to the Fargo Force. The Lancers have not won a game over Western Conference competition in the 2024 calendar year. The last losing streak by a USHL team to reach 15 or more games was a winless skid of 16 consecutive games recorded by the Central Illinois Flying Aces (defunct) from January 27th, 2018, to March 9th, 2018. Omaha has dropped six consecutive games played against Tri-City dating back to last season. The Lancers will host the Storm again on Friday, March 29th, and Saturday, April 13th. The only remaining game in this year's eight-game series between Tri-City and Omaha to be played at the Viaero Center will be the Storm's annual Fan Appreciation Night on Friday, April 12th. Scoring leaders for the Lancers entering tonight's home game against the Storm include Nick Pierre (15), David Deputy (12), Jamison Sluys (11), Will Elger (9), and Ethan Fredericks (9). Omaha will hit the road next weekend for back-to-back games against Chicago.
