
Lancers Fall in OT to Steel, 5-4

GENEVA, IL - The Lancers went back and forth with the Chicago Steel on Friday night but would fall in overtime by a final score of 5-4.
The Lancers got ahead of the Steel when Matthew Sutton (11:19) netted his third goal of the year. Sutton was assisted by Alex Campbell and Brian Silver. The Steel would answer back minutes later with Jack Babbage (16:04). The Lancers got their second lead of the night when Jack Jensen (18:13) scored an unassisted goal. The Steel went on their second power play late in the period and capitalized with Sean Farrell (19:59) tipping in a pass from Brendan Brisson to even the game 2-2.
Early in the second frame, Cole Kodsi (0:30) got the Lancers ahead 3-2. The goal was Kodsi's seventh of the year and was assisted by Nolan Renwick. The Steel scored again on the power play when Mathieu De St. Phalle (10:49) tipped in a shot from Owen Power to even the game 3-3.
The Steel would break the tie with Luke Reid (10:21) driving the net and scoring on Dobes. Late in the period, and with an extra attacker on the ice, Alex Campbell (19:43) would snipe the puck past Ostman to force overtime.
In the extra frame, Sean Farrell (0:49) would net the game-winning goal to give the Steel a 5-4 win. The Lancers are now 15-10-6-0 on the year with 34 points.
The Lancers are back in action tomorrow night against the Chicago Steel. Puck drop is at 7:05 PM. All the action is on KOIL 1290 AM and HockeyTV.
