Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Last night, Ben Schultheis became the latest Fighting Saint to ink his commitment to the NCAA, announcing he will be playing hockey at Ferris State. Schultheis, a sizeable right-shot defenseman, is in his first season with the Dubuque Fighting Saints. Schultheis joins current teammate Antonio Venuto, who committed earlier this season, as the two Saints set to play hockey for the Bulldogs.

"Ben has shown great development in his time with us," said head coach Oliver David. "He takes pride in all areas of the game and his willingness to learn and desire to compete will translate well to his college career at Ferris."

Schultheis played 22 games at the USHL level last season with the Green Bay Gamblers, totaling three points, all of which were assists. This season in Dubuque, he has nine points with five goals and four assists through his first 29 games with the Fighting Saints.

"I am very excited to be able to commit to Ferris State University," said Schultheis. "I'd like to thank all my family, friends, coaches and teammates who have supported me along the way."

Schultheis has played in all situations for the Saints and has shown a continued willingness to jump up in the rush as the season has gone on. The 6'4'' defenseman has been a physical force on the back end all season long for the Saints.
