Lance Rozeboom Suffers ACL Tear

Washington, D.C. (March 23, 2012) - D.C. United announced today that midfielder Lance Rozeboom suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament on his left knee during Tuesday's training session. Rozeboom met with Doctor James Gilbert of Metro Orthopedics and Sports Therapy in Silver Spring, Md. today, who confirmed the injury and arranged for surgery April 5.

Rozeboom was an unused substitute during Sunday's 3-1 loss against the LA Galaxy. The 2012 Supplemental Draft signed with United on March 7, after completing preseason camps in Fla., Ariz., and S.C. Rozeboom was selected by D.C. United in the second round (26th overall) of the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft from the University of New Mexico.

Rozeboom spent four years a the University of New Mexico and was a key member of the team's undefeated 2011 season. The midfielder started each of the team's 22 matches last year, collecting three goals and two assists, as the Lobos finished 18-0-4. As a freshman, Rozeboom started six of 16 games played, before starting 66 consecutive matches beginning during his sophomore season through the end of his senior campaign. He finished his career at New Mexico with six goals and five assists in 78 games (68 starts).
